PhaB - NADPH-dependent acetoacetyl-CoA reductase
NADPH-dependent acetoacetyl-CoA reductase, or more commonly known as PhaB, is the second enzyme in the biological process of making the bioplastic polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB). This enzyme catalyzes the reduction from acetoacetyl-CoA to (R)-3-hydroxybutyrate-CoA. By combining this gene with LPE, which is a synthetic gene, it is possible to change the end-product from PHB to P(LA-co-3HB).
